The memory is a wonderful thing,  it gives me so much joy
Especially of The Bennington, on ship with all the boys

Seems to me like yesterday, when I was young and full of grit
When my shipmates and I stood side by side, I will not forget.

Sometimes I hear the oceans' sounds, waves splashing on her bow
Seagulls flying, singing thier songs, like they too, were proud!

I think of my fellow Seamen, and in my heart they'll always be
"The Blood and Guts and Tears" that kept our country free.

My shipmates of the Bennington, my friends, a loyal crew
My heart knows and remembers each and everyone of you.

No closer friends could be, than those who fight side by side
Those of us who served our country with great NAVY PRIDE!!

Weep not my friends of those days, when you look back and see them
The days we gave  our ALL to America, to peserve her PEACE and FREEDOM.

So when you look back and remember the 'Good Ol' Navy Days'
Think of the USS Bennington and let your heart sing, "Anchors Aweigh"!!
